²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµis currently seeking 2 qualified multifaceted candidates for the position of ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµAmbassador, Interior Region, for the pilot project of “²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµAmbassador”. This position will work closely with the ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµOutreach Coordinator and ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµDirector, and ultimately report to the Executive Director and Director to ensure effective execution of the Society’s strategic plan and ensure the plan is in alignment with the ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµobligations, as well as broader priorities, to satisfy both programmatic and organizational development needs.

²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµAmbassador Pilot Project:
Intent: The Goal of the ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµAmbassador Pilot Project is to build local connections and enhance knowledge of ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµfostering increased linkages between ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµand local educators. Ensuring alignment with the ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµmission, vision, obligations and society purposes.

Position Summary:

What will the new Ambassadors do?
To support knowledge mobilization of ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµprograms, services, mission, vision and messaging, the Ambassadors will:

  • Share information about ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµprograms, resources and services
  • Mobilize knowledge of ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµmessaging and initiatives
  • Connect with local ECEs and sector, ensuring voices are heard
  • Support local ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµbranches and foster new local ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµbranches
  • Encourage ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµmembership
  • Determine local community's needs, desires, concerns and gaps and share back to ECEBC
  • Coordinate/attend events, professional development, conversation circles, COPs, etc. with local ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµbranches and current ECE tables
  • Connect with the Provincial Ambassador team and ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµCoordinators
  • Bring forth multiple ECE voices for ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµgrowth and future opportunities (i.e. social media, journal and Podcast, programs)
     

²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµHopes to Expand:

  • Work that aligns with the ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµstrategic plan.
  • Membership and branches to be further be informed and engaged.
  • Membership and branch growth.
  • The understanding of ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµwork.
  • ECEBC's knowledge and understanding regarding realities of the sector Province-wide.
  • New ways for educators to engage with ECEBC.
  • New and existing Relationships
     

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Broad Overview:

  • Along with ECEBCs leadership team, provide input/feedback towards strategic direction setting for the organization.
  • Act as a representative of ECEBC, being able to speak to all current programs and services.
  • Contribute to a deep vision and proactive strategic education plan aligning with the ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµmission.
  • Increase the broader professionalism of the ECE sector through duties/responsibilities.
  • Produce reporting and statistical information as requested.
  • Understands and commits to ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµobligations regarding diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Work with ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµteam members.
  • Assists the ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµleadership.

Note: the above duties/responsibilities may shift as needs emerge. Any changes will be discussed.

Additional Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be an ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµprovincial member in good standing (current member) and will have the following:

  • General understanding of ECEBC.
  • Strong local community relationship in the ECE sector.
  • Understanding and experience in the charitable/not-for-profit sector.
  • Experience in professional development/event planning and implementation.
  • Experience working in a decentralized or provincial program.
  • Knowledge of the Early Learning Framework, the ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµCode of Ethics, and the Truth and Reconciliation Report.
  • Required:
    • Holds a current BC certificate in Early Childhood Education and have a background in early childhood education. (or relevant education)
    • Basic project management experience/skills
  • Strong engagement and relationship skills.
     

Skills and Abilities

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of a team
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships (i.e. staff, members, consultants, volunteers, funders, and other partners)
  • Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage several time-sensitive projects at any given time
  • Ability to take initiative and have vision in creating new opportunities
  • Detail oriented
  • Conflict resolution skills and the ability to handle potentially difficult situations with tact and diplomacy
  • Ability to function professionally and ethically
  • Excellent writing skills and communication skills
  • Strong public speaking skills is an asset
  • Knowledge and understanding of ECEBC’s program and services
  • Proven community engagement experience.
  • Efficient on online platforms (i.e. zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.)

Salary & Benefits:

Compensation: $2500 (40 hours per month) Contract.

This position is a contract and does not qualify for benefits.

Reporting Structure
The ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµAmbassador reports ultimately to the Executive Director and Director of Programs & Operations. The successful applicant will work closely with applicable ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµstaff.
