Wildernest Childcare is a licensed group childcare centre opening March 2026, located just 10 minutes south of Golden, BC at Horse Creek. Our program provides high-quality care for children aged 3–5 years, with a strong emphasis on outdoor learning, exploration, and holistic development. We are committed to creating a positive environment not just for children, but also for our educators — recognizing that happy, well-supported caregivers create the best experiences for children.

We are looking for a lead ECE to help create a healthy, supportive environment accommodating 8 children, with ambitions to grow. This is a unique opportunity to be part of establishing a new childcare space and provide input into the development of routines, systems, and learning areas for children.

Living and Working in Golden, BC

Golden, British Columbia is a small mountain town of approximately 4,000 residents, located at the confluence of the Columbia and Kicking Horse Rivers and surrounded by some of Canada's most iconic national and provincial parks. Qualifications:

Basic ECE

Additional Qualifications:

  • Valid Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certificate in BC
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Clear Criminal Record Check
  • A passion for outdoor learning and child development
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks
  • Experience in a licensed childcare setting (preferred)
  • Additional courses/training related to child growth and development (asset)

Required Experience:

  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities that support children's learning and well-being
  • Supervise and engage with children during indoor and outdoor play, meals, and rest time
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all children
  • Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits
  • Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and management
  • Observe, document, and assess children's progress and behaviours
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety standards in the childcare facility
  • Work collaboratively with fellow educators to support program goals
  • Other duties as assigned within the childcare

Salary & Benefits:

Wage: $27–$29/hour (including subsidies)
