YMCA-YWCA School Age Child Care Staff, enjoy working in a fun, fast-paced environment facilitating
adapted programming allowing children ages 5 -12 to participate meaningfully in all aspects of the
program.

Your responsibilities:
• Work effectively with children, staff, and other stakeholders to provide an inclusive, healthy,
and engaging environment.
• To assist with the planning and implementation of a child centered program in accordance with
YMCA-YWCA and CCFL standards, including YMCA A Place to Connect curriculum standards.
• Help children navigate conflict and role model positive behaviours.
• To read, understand and follow all YMCA-YWCA policies and procedures related to the
supervision, guidance and care of children.
• To establish and maintain positive daily communication and interaction with families, providing
quality customer service and building meaningful relationships within the community.
• To maintain a neat, orderly, and clean environment, including all activity areas and washrooms.

Qualifications:
Other: Responsible Adult
Additional Qualifications:
• Must be at least 19 years of age.
• Experience working with children 5 – 12.
• Current First Aid and CPR required (Standard First Aid with CPR-C must be completed within the
first month of employment)
• A clear Ministry of Justice Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening required*
• A clear Police/RCMP Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening required*
*Note: Cost reimbursed.
• Responsible Adult or 20 hours of training in Child Development, Child Guidance and/or Nutrition
an asset
• Early Childhood Education Assistant License to Practice an asset.
• BC Class 4 Driver’s License and a clear driver’s abstract is an asset.
Salary & Benefits:
Wage: $21.54/hour (the Permanent positions also qualify for the Y’s Benefits Plan)
• Additional $3.00/hour available for Class 4 drivers on days assigned to
transport children in the Y’s vehicle.
Benefits:
1) Casual Positions: are entitled to a YMCA-YWCA individual membership
2) Permanent Part-Time positions: are entitled to a YMCA-YWCA individual membership; 15 days
paid vacation (pro-rated); paid sick days (as per policy); and a cost-shared benefits package
(after completion of the probationary period) which includes:

Vacancies: 6
Positions: Permanent Part Time and Casual positions are available.
Placement: August 24, 2026 to June 25, 2027, with a possibility of renewal and summer day camp
scheduling.
***Opportunities to work with children in one of our other programs prior to August 25,
2025, are also available for those who are interested!
Hours: 10 – 35 hours, Monday to Friday. Shifts could include 7:00am-9:00am and/or 2:00pm-
5:30pm
*additional hours available on non-instructional days between 7am-5:30pm
