The Mayne Island Early Childhood Society (MIECS) is a small, community-based non-profit organization that provides childcare, educational, art, nature, and recreational programming to children and their families living on Mayne Island. Founded in 2008, the organization has grown into a thriving community hub with high-quality, affordable childcare at its core. The newly built Mayne Island Family Place is our home, nestled in the woods beside the Community Centre with daily access to the forest. MIECS enjoys many community partnerships, networks of families and practitioners, and opportunities for learning and growth for all of our islands’ families and children.

Our nature-based, Reggio-inspired, emergent and child-led early learning curriculum inspires community and personal development for the 30+ children we serve. Learning takes place in group care (toddler/3-5yr/school-aged) with generous ratios to support solid foundations and collaboration among our educators.

We are recruiting for an ECE or ECE-IT to join our licensed care team and collaborate in our Salaal and Cedar rooms with children ages 1-6. Other opportunities to facilitate and coordinate parent participation and school-based programs rooted in nature, arts and recreation are also possible for the right fit!
