Position: Early Childhood Educator Temporary Full Time – FLOAT Position transitioning
into Mat Leave Coverage – ending March 31st 2027- possible permanent.
Location: Burnaby Children’s Centre’s Society – Taylor Park or Hanna Court Childrens
Centre
Salary and Benefits: as per Collective Agreement ($21.80-$22.50) plus Wage Enhancement
Hours of work: Rotating shifts from 7am – 6pm, Monday - Friday.
Education and Qualifications: Current Early Childhood Education License
Current Infant Toddler or Special Needs License (preferred)
Meet Licensing Standards; first aid, CRC, and interview process
Minimum 3 years’ experience and ability to take a leadership role.
General and Specific Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal skills, especially in relationship building with children.
- Demonstrated ability to work with outside agencies and liaise with staff in the program
- Good communications skills – proficient in English, both written and spoken
- Good Leadership skills; will model and teach strategies to staff
Proficient teaching skills and the ability to adapt and modify all experiences
- Experience writing and following care and goal plans
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
- Physical ability to care for children from and able to lift and carry children.
- Knowledge of child care development, guidance and discipline, routines and transitions
- Demonstrated ability to work with outside professionals
- Demonstrated ability to share strategies with staff team and support team in implementing these strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to work with family and team to establish goals and follow through on strategies to achieve those goals
- Familiar with the Society’s Policy and Procedures
- Familiar with Licensing Regulations
